Since 2014, Rochester Area CRIME STOPPERS’ K9 Initiative has provided financial support for nearly 30 local K9s from Rochester Police Department; Monroe County Sheriff’s Office; Gates Police Department; Greece Police Department; and Brockport Police Department.

The K9s are beloved members of law enforcement and contribute to the safety of our community 24/7. These highly-trained and hardworking animals track lost children and the elderly; detect explosives and narcotics; and protect the police officer as well as the public.

The K9 Initiative assists with unexpected veterinary expenses for ill and injured K9s as well as providing upgrades and new equipment for the RPD K9 Obstacle Course and the MCSO K9 Obstacle Course. K9 units throughout Monroe County and neighboring counties utilize the obstacle courses for training and certification. These much needed upgrades and repairs were made possible with the assistance of CountryMax Stores, the Eagle Scouts and financial contributions from many generous donors.

NEWS FLASH! In summer 2021, Crime Stoppers launched its first ever campaign to purchase a K9 for local law enforcement and raised enough money to fund the purchase of not one, but two K9 puppies! Thank you to the many businesses and individual donors who supported this outstanding campaign!

From “Jeans Day” fundraisers to K9 Donation Jars at local businesses, we are grateful to the many businesses and individuals who have come up with fun and unique ways to raise money for our local K9s. If you have an idea for a fundraiser, please reach out to us at: [email protected]
